Hi Members and Friends!
I hope everyone is recovering from the election in November! We have a lot to be happy about concerning the results of the election. We did have some victories at the state level. Jeanette Mott Oxford, John Bowman, Maria Chapelle-Nadal, and Joan Bray will be returning to Jeff City. Jeff Smith will be going to Jeff City for the first time, as a Progressive in the state senate. While our other endorsed candidates did not win, many of them had very close races, closer than they ever have been in those districts. Jim Trout lost by less than one percentage point! I know many of them will be back for the next election. Thanks to all of them for running clean, honest campaigns that stuck to progressive issues! Please drop a note of thanks to them all!
On a national note, while we are happy that Democrats have won a majority, we know, as Progressives, our work is just beginning! We now need to keep them from traveling to far to the right, and have them keep their promises of bringing the troops home and cleaning up Washington. Many of our members did work for Claire McCaskill, in hopes that she will be easier to talk to and convince than Talent was, of course! We hope she will give us her ear and be approachable. Let's give her a chance! We look forward to working with her.
