Regular meetings will be suspended for the time being, but we will still hold special events and actions throughout the year, and work with our various allies.  There is still plenty of work to do with our five core issues of Single Payer Health Care, Fair Trade, Honest Elections, Ending the Iraq War and Occupation, and the Environment!  Please check this site periodically for updates, and visit Progressive Democrats of America's website often:   www.pdamerica.org

Minutes from Progressive Democrats Meeting of September 10, 2006

The meeting was opened by Martha Scheer.

1. Martha gave information on what PDA is and how our group fits into the national group.  The group was asked to vote on a resolution as to keeping all funds from dues and fund raising for our own use or donate some funds to the National PDA.

Mimi Signor suggested that funds be donated to local candidates endorsed by PDA that were in need of help. The point was made that giving the funds to National would help candidates on the Federal level but keeping the money local would give us more control and clout.  The vote was taken and it was decided that $50.00 a year would be donated to National PDA and the rest of the funds kept for local needs.

2. A vote was also taken as to whether every member who signs up with us would also become a member of the National PDA.  This proposal won the support of the group.

3. Martha said we still need a point person for the 1st. & 3rd. District.  Tom Hyatt volunteered for the 1st. and Pat Berg volunteered to be the point person for the 3rd district.

4. A Declaration of Peace is available for members to send to their Congressmen for signature.  September 21 is the National Day of Peace.  Jeannie Breeze asked we announce the Walk for Peace on Sept. 16.  Members can go to www.snstl.org to sign up for this walk.

5. Mimi announced parties to meet candidates.
