About

The purpose of Progressive Democrats of St. Louis is to join with other concerned citizens to promote progressive values within the Democratic Party (and without) for the betterment of the community, state, and nation.

Formation

The group formed as a 527 PAC around the time of the Democratic Convention 2004, in conjunction with the formation of PDA (the Progressive Democrats of America), which was launched by supporters of former presidential candidates Congressman Dennis Kucinich and Gov. Howard Dean and other progressives. The purpose of PDA is to keep the Democratic Party from moving away from its true progressive roots and work with other progressives, such as Greens, Social Democrats, and Independents.  The Progressive Democrats of St. Louis is the charter Chapter Member of PDA in Missouri.  If  you have a group in another part of the state, and want to form a chapter, visit the PDA website at www.pdamerica.org to find out how.

Purpose

Besides working on issues in the progressive platform locally, and supporting progressive candidates, the Progressive Democrats of St. Louis have signed on with PDA to help organize the Progressive Caucus of Missouri. The caucus is made up of issues groups (Alliances) and progressive groups (Chapters/Members)from around the state.  If your group is interested in joining this Progressive Caucus of Missouri, visit the Missouri Caucus website at www.progressivecaucusmo.org for more information.
